Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul Students Win National Award: Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul was awarded the first prize in the ‘Innovation Ideas’ category of the Green Your School programme by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The programme aims to spread awareness about environmental education and find solutions at the individual level. Schools are encouraged to come up with sustainable ideas to improve and convert the existing school into a green school that helps reduce carbon footprint. The event took place at Asia’s Largest Conference and Expo on Green Built Environments in Bengaluru, amidst several corporate & government officials. The event was attended by dignitaries like Sri Eshwar Khandre, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Government of Karnataka. The students presented five innovative projects like upcycle and sound garden, solar lamp, gaucrete (a sustainable building material) and cow dung paint, food cycler and coconut cycle scrapper and nature-based solutions like bio-pharmacy ayurvedic garden, stevia, moringa and bamboo fencing. In the final round, a team of three girl students (with a teacher supervisor) from Shrimad Rajchandra Gurukul competed with renowned schools from metros like Mumbai and Delhi and won the national award. Animal Care: Animals Rescued from Slaughter: On the pious occasion of Kartik Purnima, the birth anniversary of Param Krupalu Dev, 501 animals will be rescued from being slaughtered and will be provided protection at animal care homes.
