SRMD Yoga Celebrates the 10th International Day of Yoga

The 10th International Day of Yoga marked a significant milestone for SRMD Yoga, showcasing its impact through a series of remarkable events worldwide. This year’s celebrations were highlighted by invitations to conduct sessions at three major United Nations (UN) offices – New York, Geneva and Paris; a proof of the organisation’s commitment to global wellness and unity.

Major Events

The sessions included a blend of yoga, pranayama, meditation and sound bath conducted by Atmarpit Shraddhaji, Head of SRMD Yoga. These events are a testament to SRMD Yoga’s growing international presence.

  • UN Headquarters, New York City: SRMD Yoga was invited to conduct a sound bath for over 1,000 participants, including delegates from UN Member States and UN officials. Through a sound bath meditation, Param Krupalu Dev’s pious name was chanted along with the mantra Sahajatmaswaroop Paramguru.

SRMD Yoga had the privilege of sharing the stage with the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Ramesh Bais at the Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. This prominent event underscored the importance of yoga in promoting wellness and inner peace. The event included a segment wherein SRMD Yoga senior instructor, Devki Desai initiated everyone into an energising pranayama and sound bath experience.

Nationwide Wellness Workshops

Across India, wellness workshops were held in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Dharampur, Dwarka, Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. These sessions embraced this year’s International Day of Yoga theme of ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, reaching out to various sectors including the navy and police force, railway officers, corporates, Rotary clubs, students and dabbawalas. SRMD Yoga was specially invited to conduct yoga for the INS Navy Force at Dwarka, where hundreds participated.

Global Embrace

Despite its roots in India, International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide by people of all faiths and cultures. SRMD Yoga centres in cities like Dubai, Hong Kong, Perth, Singapore, Sydney and Toronto organised events at premier locations. For example, at Sydney the spots chosen for conducting yoga were iconic ones such as the Sydney Town Hall, the House of Parliament, Parramatta Square, etc., in collaboration with the Consulate General of India. In London, over 1,000 people gathered at the Trafalgar Square, with the event receiving coverage in the Times of India.

SRMD Yoga expresses heartfelt gratitude to Param Krupalu Dev and Pujya Gurudevshri for the grace bestowed upon the team. The 10th International Day of Yoga celebrated not only the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga but also reinforced its vital role in fostering global unity and well-being. Through these events, SRMD Yoga continues to inspire a journey of wellness and grace, transcending borders and bringing people together in the spirit of peace and harmony.
