Power of One: A Global Movement

Aparigraha, one of the key principles of Jainism, refers to the practice of non- possessiveness; encouraging individuals to let go of attachment to material possessions. Pujya Gurudevshri has time and again elucidated the importance of this timeless principle and inspired seekers for action. There are millions who are deprived of even the basic necessities. For such individuals, even a handful of grains will bring a family together over a meal. A pair of clothes will restore dignity and bring a sense of confidence to someone. Technology will open up new possibilities for a poor student. A toy that was lost in a cupboard will bring a smile to a less- privileged child.

Translating the Master’s teachings into action, Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care organised ‘Power of One’ – a global movement inspiring people to open their hearts and declutter their homes in a powerful act of giving. By offering foodgrains, utensils, clothes, footwear, electronic gadgets and toys to those in need, this campaign reflected the abundance that can come from generosity. With over 100 collection centres across five continents, over 8,00,000 items were collected in a span of few weeks.

The distribution drive was flagged off by Pujya Gurudevshri and the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan during the Paryushan Mahaparva at the Dome, NSCI, Mumbai. The items collected during the campaign are being distributed to underprivileged communities in villages, slums, orphanages and old-age homes.

The Power of One campaign is an illustration of compassion in action. This global project embodies the philosophy of detachment from material possessions and promotes sharing with those who are less fortunate. This simple yet impactful initiative shows how a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect of smiles, hope and transformation.
